A primary target of wolves in the Carpathians, a spritely roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) stands frozen with awareness as the Way of the Wolf expedition passes by. The other two large wild ungulates of the region, red deer (Cervus elaphus) and wild boar (Sus scrofa), also figure large in the diet of Carpathian wolves.
